Free Radon Test Kits

PARKERSBURG — As part of Radon Action Month, the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department will be distributing free radon test kits and information on Jan. 28 during business hours at the health department offices while supplies last.

Radon is a colorless, scentless gas that occurs naturally and can enter homes from the ground up. It is the leading cause of lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers in the United States. Testing the radon levels in a home can prevent unnecessary exposure. If a high level is detected, there are measures that can be taken to fix it.

Free kits will be available at the Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt and Wood county offices from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28, along with information about radon and MOVHD programs.

More information is available about radon and service professionals who can help with mitigation at https://www.epa.gov/radon.

Starting at $2.99/week.
