PARKERSBURG — Several holiday-themed events will be taking place the first weekend of December, including a pair of parades, a couple of home tours and a downtown Winterfest.
* The Vienna Holly Days Parade will be at 11 a.m. Saturday along Grand Central Avenue from 47th Street to 23rd Street. The entry fee is at least one case of nonperishable food for the Good Samaritan Center.
* The 2025 Parkersburg Christmas Parade will be at 2 p.m. Saturday along Market Street in downtown Parkersburg.
The theme is “A Storybook Christmas.” The entry fee is a minimum of 15 nonperishable food items that will be donated to local food pantries. The entry with the most donated items will be recognized at Winterfest, which starts right after the parade at Bicentennial Park.
* Downtown PKB will host its annual Winterfest celebration from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Bicentennial Park.

The event offers festive children’s activities, live performances and fireworks designed to kick off the holiday season.
The night’s most memorable moment is the annual lighting of the downtown Christmas tree near Bicentennial Park. Families gather for the countdown as downtown’s holiday tree illuminates the area for the first time of the season. The ceremony typically includes remarks from community leaders and special guests. Following the tree lighting there will be fireworks sponsored by Chemours, Downtown PKB and an anonymous donor.
* The 25th Victorian Christmas Home Tour and Tea will be Friday through Sunday in the Julia-Ann Square Historic District in Parkersburg.
Five historic homes in the district have been decorated for the holiday season in a variety of styles from period to modern. Proceeds from the annual tour and other activities in the district throughout the year are used for improvements to the district, organizers said.
The homes featured this year will include: the Chancellor-Brown House, 904 Juliana St.; the Smith House, 1024 Juliana St.; the Arick-Savoie House, 939 Juliana St.; the Smith-Hoffman House, 127 13th St.; and the Spencer House, 941 Juliana Ann St.
