PARKERSBURG — A local author now has his work available as an audiobook.
Stephen Hupp of Parkersburg has written 11 books since 2017. He just recently completed making the audiobooks using a program available on Amazon.
“This is something I wanted to do for a long time,” he said.
The problem was the expense for the narration of the book, Hupp said.
“I couldn’t afford to hire the narrator,” he said. “I’m a terrible public speaker, so I couldn’t do it myself.”
Then Amazon provided the Audiobook Creation Exchange, a program allowing the ebook editions to be processed into an audiobook, Hupp said. The program can be adapted for languages and accents, such as American English or British English, male or female voices or the age of the narrator, he said.
“It’s a very slick program,” Hupp said. “Nice and easy to use.”
Hupp’s portfolio of 11 books have been converted. A 12th book yet to be written is in the planning, he said.
“I got a couple of things I’m working on,” Hupp said.
The audio books are available on Amazon and Audible. They also can be purchased as a paperback and ebooks.
Hupp said he is attempting to reach more readers by offering his work as an audiobook.
