No Kings protest planned for Saturday in Marietta
From staff reports
MARIETTA — Indivisible MOV will hold a second No Kings protest from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Muskingum Park Gazebo in Marietta to demonstrate against what organizers describe as “the Trump administration’s efforts to consolidate power and disenfranchise the American people.” “Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger,” said Lisa Bammerlin, Indivisible MOV Action Team co-leader. “The first No Kings event in Marietta in June drew a crowd of more than 500 people. We anticipate even more on Oct. 18 because Americans are waking up to what’s happening to the rule of law.”
Organizers will collect food and paper product donations to benefit The Pink Church in Parkersburg and The Gospel Mission in Marietta.
According to the release from Indivisible, a core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
“Indivisible MOV expects all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events,” the release said. “Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
