Mid-Ohio Valley students make the grade in higher education

PARKERSBURG — The following academic honors were announced for students from the Mid-Ohio Valley:

* Austin Peay State University congratulates Patience Knight of Elizabeth on being offered a scholarship for fall of the 2025-2026 academic year.

* Karlee Ross of Waterford graduated magna cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University on May 10. Ross majored in health and human kinetics: exercise science (bachelor of arts) and minored in psychology.

* Olivia Congleton of Belpre and Jamison Schmidt of New Matamoras were named to the Spring 2025 Dean’s List at Ohio Dominican University

* Aubrey Erwin of Williamstown earned Dean’s List honors during the spring semester at Lee University in Tennessee. Dean’s List recognition is earned by full-time, undergraduate students with a semester grade point average between 3.7 and 4.0.

* Nelson Woofter of Parkersburg and Madison Stellato of Ripley were named to the Presidents List, with a grade point average of 4.0, for the spring semester at the University of Alabama.

* Malcolm Striblin of Belpre was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2025 term at University of Maryland Global Campus. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a gpa of at least 3.5 for the term and maintain a cumulative gpa of 3.5 at UMGC.

* Shawn Powers of Marietta was awarded the Ullman Mathematics Prize, and Kayla Stewart of Marietta was awarded the National Cabinet of Mount Union Women Scholarships at the University of Mount Union’s Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation of 2025.

* Dakota Goldsberry, from Vincent and majoring in counselor education, was among more than 150 University of Mississippi students welcomed into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor societies for all academic disciplines. The university held an induction ceremony in April at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on campus.

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is based on a student’s character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10% of their class.

* Karlee Ross of Waterford graduated magna cum laude May 10 from Ohio Wesleyan University. Ross received a bachelor of arts in health and human kinetics: exercise science and minored in psychology.

* Antone Eason of Marietta was named to the Belhaven University Spring 2025 Adult, Graduate and Online President’s List. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must achieve a 4.0 gpa while taking a full course load of at least 12 semester hours.

* Jamison Schmidt of New Matamoras graduated from Ohio Dominican University on May 10.
