PARKERSBURG — Academy Award-winning filmmaker Pamela Tanner Boll will headline the Parkersburg Piccalilli Artists’ Conference on Sept. 19, bringing her keynote “Freedom in the Process: Creating for Its Own Sake” to inspire all who love art and creativity.

Boll, celebrated for “Born Into Brothels” and “Who Does She Think She Is?”, is renowned for empowering artists and telling transformative stories.

Her work as a director and producer often centers on themes of social justice, creative resilience, and ecological renewal. Her films have garnered attention at major festivals and have been praised by outlets like The New York Times for their engaging perspective and emotional resonance.

Boll’s commitment to amplifying women’s stories, especially mothers in the arts, uniquely positions her as an advocate for inclusivity and creative empowerment.

The conference features a variety of hands-on workshops and networking opportunities, from furniture painting and graphic design tips to Huichol yarn painting, storytelling through video, financial planning for creatives, and more. Attendees can craft their own schedule, recharge, learn new skills, and connect with fellow art lovers in an energizing “art spa day” setting.
