Barlow Independent Fair marks 154th year this week

BARLOW — The Barlow Independent Fair will begin today and run through Sunday.

The Barlow Fair is the oldest continuously operating independent fair in Ohio, marking this year as its 154th fair.

According to the Barlow Fairgrounds Facebook, parking will be available on Ohio 550 for trucks, trailers and tractors. Handicap accessible parking will also be available on the Ohio 550 lot. General parking will be on the Bell Road/Ohio 339 parking lot.

For the Big “O” Amusement rides, tickets cost $1.25 a piece, $20 for 20 tickets, $40 for 40 tickets and wristbands cost $25. Rides will be made free on Thursday.

The admission ticket cost is: membership pass, $30; daily single adult admission, $7; daily single child (ages 6-12), $5; children ages 6 and below enter for free; and 4-H and FFA exhibitors pass, $10.

There will additionally be a $1 credit card convenience fee.

TODAY

* 12-8 p.m.: Fancy poultry check in

* 4-8 p.m.: Market duck weigh-in

* 5-5:30 p.m.: Market dairy goat weigh-in

* 5-8 p.m.: entries for T-building, Lads & Lassies and produce

* 5:30-8 p.m.: Feeder calf weigh-in

* 6 p.m.: 4-H booth judging

* 6-8 p.m.: Rabbit check in; Square dance – show barn

WEDNESDAY

* 12 p.m.: Lads & Lassies and produce judging

* 3 p.m.: Gates open; Judging T-building; Judging flowers

* 6 p.m.: Sheep/goat show – show barn; Tug tractor pull, 11,000 and 13,000 lbs classes

* 7 p.m.: Sam Rupe in the Gazebo

THURSDAY

* 8 a.m.: Gates open.

* 5:30 p.m.: Jr. Fair duck and fancy poultry showmanship, poultry barn

* 6 p.m.: Jr. Fair and open beef show, Jr. Fair beef breeding showmanship, followed by Jr. Fair dairy showmanship & open dairy show; Tug tractor pull, 7,500 and 9,500 lbs classes; Local marching bands in the Gazebo

* 6-10 p.m.: Amusement rides

FRIDAY

* 8 a.m.: Gates open.

* 9 a.m.: Jr. Fair market duck show, Jr. fair and open fancy poultry show

* 11 a.m.: Feeder calf showmanship

* 12-5 p.m.: Amusement rides

* 2 p.m.: Market dairy goat show

* 6 p.m.: Parade; Tug tractor pull, 6,500lb class

* 6-11 p.m.: Amusement rides

* 8 p.m.: Pickin’ on Country

SATURDAY

* 7 a.m.: Gates open

* 8 a.m.: Feeder calf show

* 9:30 a.m.: Garden tractor pull

* 10 a.m.: Jr. Fair rabbit showmanship, Jr. Fair and open rabbit show; Open horse show

* 11 a.m.: Exhibitors begin to pick up livestock sale pictures at show barn

* 12-4 p.m.: Election of directors in the fair board office

* 12-5 p.m.: Amusement rides

* 1 p.m.: Draft pony pull

* 4-6 p.m.: Jasper Stringer in the Gazebo

* 4 p.m.: Buyer appreciation reception

* 5 p.m.: Jr. Fair market livestock sale

* 6 p.m.: Tug tractor pull, 5,500lb class

* 6-11 p.m.: Amusement rides

* 8-10 p.m.: Tanglewood Jam at the Gazebo

SUNDAY

* 8 a.m.: Gates open

* 9 a.m.: Church with Dr. Lloyd Dennis at the Gazebo

* 10 a.m.: Open horse show; Speed pull, truck and tractor

* 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Family Fun – show barn

* 12 p.m.: Little Miss and Mister Barlow in the Gazebo

* 2 p.m.: Pedal pull at the show barn

* 4 p.m.: Exhibits released
