Maggie Evans, center, is presented the Eric Keffer Memorial Player of the Year at the Tiger Junior Golf Tour championship earlier this month. She is presented the award by Ella Keffer, left, and Tiffany Keffer, right. Eric Keffer, who started the Mid-Ohio Valley Junior Golf Tour about 10 years ago, passed away in September of 2024. Evans was one of six golfers to win their age division. Winners included Evans (Girls 16-18), Liam Nuzum (Boys 16-18), Cooper Skinner (Boys 13-15), Lila Nuzum (Girls 13-15), Jacob Flaherty (Boys 10 and under) and Lily Gains (Girls 10 and under). Gains also won the Sportsmanship Award. Around 30 kids competed in four events as part of the tour, which took place at Lakeside Golf Course, Oxbow Golf Course, Marietta Country Club and the Golf Club of West Virginia. Players earned points for their performance, with the highest point-earners winning their divisions. The tour’s purpose was to give kids an affordable local option to play competitive golf before their school season began. It picked up from where the original Mid-Ohio Valley Junior Golf Tour left off. (Photo Provided)
