Parkersburg High School students attend Yearbookpalooza

PARKERSBURG — Yearbook students from Parkersburg High School attended the Yearbookpalooza workshop in Orlando, Fla., through a grant from the Brice Michael?Byham English Achievement Award administered by the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation.

The workshop was held July 14-16 and included sessions for students on creating a yearbook theme, how to feature students, writing stories and taking photographs and for advisers about managing a yearbook.

At the close of the school year, staff from the foundation met with Beth Koreski, adviser and yearbook director at Parkersburg High, to present the grant to students.

Attending the workshop were Koreski and students Margaret Mildren, Anna Floyd, Kim Huynh, adviser Beth Koreski, Paityn Davis, Reagan Ashley, Malia Williams, Jojo Wilson, Morgan Metz, Olivia Eakle, Sam Bailey, Sophie Lott, Brooklyn Miller and Morgan McFee.

“This award provides our students with resources to attend a premier workshop that will enhance their skills and inspire creativity,” Koreski said. “We are grateful to PACF and the Byham family for their support.”

The award was created in 1993 by Dr. William?C. Byham in honor of his mother, Brice Byham, a longtime English teacher, and supports outstanding students in English and related fields. It encourages participation in a summer academic program or activity between junior and senior years of high school.
