ROCKPORT – A planned electrical outage by Mon Power originally announced for Wednesday has been postponed in light of forecast temperatures in the 90s.
According to the Wood County 911 Center, the planned outage was to have affected the Rockport substation and approximately 1,500 customers between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday.
But a representative of the company said Monday afternoon the work was being postponed “due to this week’s heat.”
According to the National Weather Service forecast, temperatures on Wednesday are expected to get as high as 93, with a 30% chance of thunderstorms.
Will Boye, senior communications rep for FirstEnergy, of which Mon Power is a part, said the planned work “entails replacing a wood structure with a new, taller wood structure in order to maintain proper clearances around power lines and communications cables.”
No date has been announced for the work to be rescheduled. Boye said the company typically tries to avoid planned outages during extreme heat or cold.
