Montgomery Aces Oxbow

Russ Montgomery of Parkersburg recorded a hole-in-one on the 105-yard par 3 fourth hole at Oxbow Golf Course.

He used a pitching wedge to accomplish the feat. His ace was witnessed by Bryan Dowler and Steve Florence.

Miller Aces Minibel

Donnie Miller recorded a hole-in-one Saturday at Minibel Golf Course.

Miller got the ace on hole No. 5 using a 7 iron. The feat was witnessed by Zach Miller, Braydon Duty, Dakota Duty and Stacy Gage.

Hamilton Middle School Tennis Practices

The City Park tennis courts are going to be resurfaced starting July 25. Hamilton Middle School will be practicing and having matches at Jackson Park tennis courts in Vienna. Remember to bring water, a racquet, wear tennis shoes, and bring your WVSSAC physical form, if you haven’t turned it in yet for the first practice.

Schedule for the first month:

July 28-Aug. 1 (1-2:30 p.m.); AUG. 4-8 (10:30 a.m.-noon);

Aug. 11-15 and Aug. 18-22 (5:15-6:45 p.m.)

Middle School matches begin the week of Aug. 25.

Tennis parent meeting is July 27 at 4 p.m. on the front steps of Hamilton Middle School (bring a chair).

MOVTA Youth Tennis Tournament

The 2025 MOVTA Summer Tennis Tournament will be held July 26-27 at Jackson Park tennis courts.

Play may begin as early as 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 26. Playing times will be available by calling Mike Politz at 304-588-0809 after 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 24.

The format will be round-robin play in approximate two-hour time blocks. Match format will vary based on the number of players in each age group/event.

Players may play in up to two events. It is a non-sanctioned tournament, so the event is open to all USTA and non-USTA players.

All singles events are $15 per event and all doubles events are $15 per individual, per event ($30 per team). The events are Boys and Girls 10u, 12u, and 14U.

West Virginia Baseball Camp

The WVU Baseball Camp will be held at The Dugout in Parkersburg from 4-7 p.m. on July 24.

The camp is designed for kids ages 5-12.

Colorado Rockies Showcase in Struthers (Ohio)

The Cene Park Baseball Complex in Struthers, Ohio, will host the 2025 Colorado Rockies scout Ed Santa’s annual summer showcase for high school players on Saturday, Aug 9.

In conjunction with the Santa showcase Cene Park will offer games that weekend to uncommitted player scout teams. Each team will play three games that weekend: One on Saturday evening after the showcase and two on Sunday.
