The long and straight section of Garfield Avenue.

A long, fairly straight and flat stretch down Garfield Avenue begins after mile marker one. Runners and walkers will see an important pillar of Parkersburg during this portion of the race as they pass by the large campus of WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center before passing under the railroad bridge as they make their way toward West Virginia 68 South and the bridge that connects U.S. 50 with Parkersburg. This uphill slope takes participants above the Little Kanawha River with a beautiful view of the Ohio River to the right.
