Along the Race Course: Julia-Ann Historical District – Mile 0.5

An arch over the road marks the entrance to the Julia-Ann Historic District in the first mile of the News and Sentinel Half Marathon.

PARKERSBURG — Mile 0.5 takes runners and walkers through the Julia-Ann Historic District, which is the oldest and largest historic district in West Virginia. It boasts numerous architectural beauties, with most being private residences. During certain times of year, some of the homes are open for tours. The Julia-Ann Historic District is the perfect way to get into the race with some charming views. Participants can pick up a free self-guided walking tour of the homes at the Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. When you are not racing, this historic area is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and gather ideas for home improvements.
