Racers pass the five-mile mark near the South Hills Golf Club along Gihon Road, which provides runners and walkers with the roller coaster of gentle hills, a break from the flat stretches of the miles before and after. The traffic on the normally busy road is controlled on race day. Don’t forget to take in some of the nature during this stretch as the race will move into more residential areas. Take in the beautiful green of the golf course and wave to some golfers. The News and Sentinel Half Marathon and Two-Mile Race will be held Aug. 16.
