Along the Race Course: First Water Stop – Mile 1.8

A runner grabs a cup of water at the first water stop during a past race.

Mile 1.8 is the first water stop right as the course turns uphill to cross the bridge that connects US 50 with Parkersburg over the Little Kanawha River. If participants look closely to their left as they pass through the intersection of Third and Ann streets, they might be able to see the two-milers begin their race. The average runner and walker will consume roughly ten ounces of water at each stop, with this being the first of 15 around the course. Racers will consume as much as a gallon of water and/or Gatorade during the race. This water stop is made up of volunteers from Chemours Washington Works.

The News and Sentinel Half Marathon and Two-Mile Race will be held Aug. 16. Register for the races at: https://www.newsandsentinelhalfmarathon.com/. Questions? Contact Race Coordinator Sarah Watson at halfmarathon@newsandsentinel.com.

Starting at $2.99/week.
