Registration open for Friends of Mountwood Park Adventure Camp

VOLCANO -- Registration is open for the Friends of Mountwood Park Adventure Camp 2025 from 9 a.m. to noon July 21-25.
The camp is for children 9-13 years old, to be 9 by Dec. 31 and not to have their 14th birthday before July 31. Camp will be held rain or shine and only 20 spots are open.
Cost is $50 for the week.
Among activities is making a birdhouse with the guidance of Bob Zellny with wood cut at Curtis Woodworking in Pennsboro. Tyler County Search and Rescue will demonstrate the skills dogs possess to find lost humans.
The Appalachian Herpetological Society will discuss reptiles and amphibians and lead searches to find them. Fishing is a favorite camp activity for all.
Campers also will study entomology, bees, butterflies and pollinators. The Mountain State Sportsmen's Association will lead campers in archery exercises.
Each camper will be given "Nature's Best Hope" Young Readers' Edition by The New York Times best selling author Douglas W. Tallamy. The book, provided by Mike and Carolyn Naylor, has an introduction by Rose Butler to encourage and inspire campers on how to save the world in their own yard.

Complete and return registration forms to Friends of Mountwood Park, P.O. Box 2094, Parkersburg, WV 26102, and enclose a check for $50 to The Friends of Mountwood Park.
