Red Cross offers swimming lessons at Parkersburg park

PARKERSBURG -- The American Red Cross of the Ohio River Valley is taking registrations for free Learn-to-Swim classes for youth from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Southwood Park Pool.
Children who are at least 5, have completed kindergarten and are at least 43 inches tall are eligible to register.
A parent or guardian should bring the child to registration. Students will be assigned a lesson time at enrollment.
Classes will be held through the sponsorship of the City of Parkersburg and the YMCA of Parkersburg Monday through Friday mornings, July 7 through July 18, at Southwood Park Pool and are 50 minutes long.
All levels of swimming will be taught. Those unable to attend the June 7 registration can call beginning Monday, June 9, at 304-488-5279 and leave a message to be placed on a waiting list.
Calls must include caller name, phone number, address and names and ages of children.
Adult lessons will be held from 7-8:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, from July 7-18 at Southwood Park Pool. Pre-registration is not required. Show up at the first class.
New students are welcome any night of the period. Students ages 13-17 are welcome and will need a parent or guardian to attend to register them.
