Learning about the life of bees was the subject of the GFWC Parkersburg Woman's Club Environment Committee luncheon on April 28 with Bearsville Bee owners Bob and Joy Spencer on Jewell Road. The Spencers discussed the bee colony and the individual roles of the workers, drones and queens. Bob discussed beekeeping, the value of bees to food production and health and said honey is produced in other countries, but is not pure, buying local honey supports local beekeepers and the bee population has declined.
