Wood County sobriety checkpoint slated for April 23

PARKERSBURG — The West Virginia State Police – Parkersburg Detachment in conjunction with the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Wednesday, April 23, according to a press release from the State Police.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to prevent and deter impaired driving. The sobriety checkpoint will be in Wood County on West Virginia Route 47 in Parkersburg, near the W.Va. State Police Detachment.

The sobriety checkpoint will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, and conclude at 12 a.m. the morning of Thursday, April 24.

The sobriety checkpoint may move to a different location if the original location becomes hazardous due to traffic conditions or other reasons deemed to make the location unsafe.

The planned alternate location would be located at WV Route 95 at Kemper Street in Parkersburg.

Motorists who wish to avoid the sobriety checkpoint may take an alternate route of travel.
