Absolutely Fabulous! BrAva Mom Prom again raises funds for families, cancer research

MARIETTA -- More than 500 women gathered Friday to dance the night away and continue the battle against childhood cancer.
The 10th BrAva Mom Prom -- they dropped "annual" after the interruption during the COVID-19 pandemic -- was held at the Washington County Fair Multipurpose Building. Among the guests of honor were 27 BrAva moms who have been adopted by the local organization as their children faced cancer diagnoses.
Aside from being a major fundraiser for the group, the Mom Prom gives those women an opportunity to "take a load off their shoulders for a little bit," said BrAva Fight President Traci Nichols.
Three BrAva moms were crowned queens for the evening -- Ashley Eschbaugh, Chloe Snyder and Sarah Sargent. There were also two princesses crowned, as Allie Berry and Hailley Parsons are BrAva kids old enough to attend the event for women age 21 and older.
The festivities were once again led by Premiere Productions and Mike Bishman, who Nichols said included some extra videos and other surprises for the 10th installment.
A $30,000 donation was presented to CureSearch, a national organization seeking a cure for childhood cancers. Nichols said that brings the total amount BrAva has contributed to CureSearch to $200,000.
The Mom Prom itself raised more than $73,000, which Nichols said wouldn't be possible without the support and contributions of the community.
BrAva is a nonprofit organization seeking to provide funding and support to families affected by childhood cancer. Since 2011, BrAva has given back more than $650,000 to local families and CureSearch.
