PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police and the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 6 p.m.-midnight Wednesday, Jan. 8, on W.Va. 47 in Parkersburg, near the state police detachment.
The purpose of the checkpoint is to prevent and deter impaired driving.
If the primary location becomes unsafe due to traffic conditions or if a hazardous or unsafe situation arises, the checkpoint may move W.Va. 95 at Kemper Street, Parkersburg.
Motorists who wish to avoid the checkpoint may take an alternate route.
