WV Navigator hosting health insurance enrollment event in Parkersburg

CHARLESTON -- WV Navigator will host a health coverage enrollment event in Parkersburg for free, in-person Affordable Care Act Marketplace Health Insurance enrollment from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the YMCA of Parkersburg, 1800 30th St.
Appointments are not necessary -- walk-ins will be taken.
The ACA's annual Open Enrollment period started Nov. 1. Anyone who is not eligible for insurance through Medicare, Medicaid, or employer-based insurance may be eligible to purchase insurance under the ACA coverage provisions. West Virginia Navigator assists people with the process of selecting a plan and applying for financial assistance that helps people pay for their monthly premium.
About 97% of those who enroll receive subsidies to make the insurance more affordable. New rules have increased subsidies and made it possible for even most high-income earners to qualify for the lower-cost plans. Four in five people who sign up can get a plan for less than $10 per month.
WV Navigator is a federally funded non-profit program that provides free enrollment assistance for those seeking health insurance through the marketplace.
Though Open Enrollment will officially end Jan. 15, those seeking coverage as of Jan. 1, must enroll by Dec. 15. Even those seeking to re-enroll are encouraged to double-check the network and prescription drug coverage for any changes and update their information in case they qualify for additional cost savings.
