Rachel Valencia, state leader of Mission 22, speaks at Lubeck Elementary School’s annual Veterans Day program Thursday at Lubeck Community Baptist Church. The school collected $150 by selling flags in honor or memory of veterans and presented the money to Mission 22, a national nonprofit organization that works to combat PTSD and helping veterans and their families through efforts like its 12-month “Recovery + Resiliency” program. The programs are funded by donations and the sale of Mission 22 merchandise. The “22” in the organization’s name represents the average number of veterans who complete suicide daily.
