Snodgrass sworn in as Wood County deputy

PARKERSBURG -- Presley Snodgrass took the oath to be a Wood County Sheriff's Deputy on Thursday, becoming a third-generation law enforcement officer.
His grandfather, Ritchie County Sheriff Terry Snodgrass, held the Bible while his uncle Lt. Brad Snodgrass of the West Virginia State Police and his father Chris Snodgrass, currently of the Harrisville Police Department. looked on as Wood County Commission President Blair Couch administers the oath.
Terry Snodgrass is also a retired major with the West Virginia State Police and Chris Snodgrass is a retired sergeant with the West Virginia State Police.
"He has some shoes to fill," Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard said of the youngest Snodgrass.
Terry talked about being a proud grandfather.
"I am just as proud of this young man as I was when (Brad and Chris) chose the State Police," he said. "As most of the officers know, it is in your blood."
The Snodgrass family was appreciative of Woodyard for giving Presley the opportunity and how proud they were.
"I'm sure he will be a fine deputy," the eldest Snodgrass said.
