Camden Clark Medical Center Foundation goes ‘hole’ nine yards with Charity Golf Classic

VIENNA -- Camden Clark Medical Center Foundation hosted its 37th Annual Charity Golf Classic at the Parkersburg Country Club on Monday.
The Golf Classic is an event that the community returns to again and again, with local support and support from out-of-state from Virginia, Pennsylvania, and beyond.
This year, the foundation reported the event sold out again and raised over $51,000 to support the community.
The mission of the Golf Classic is to raise funds to support the local community, with all the proceeds going toward the Camden Clark Medical Center Foundation. According to the foundation's website, donations can go to support gas cards to assist cancer patients struggling with treatment transportation, digital blood pressure cuffs for cardiac patients who need daily monitoring, and many other factors.
This year's event focus, however, was on women's and children's health. All funds the Golf Classic raised will go toward replacing the isolettes, which are the cribs used for infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. With the proceeds, there are plans to launch a class for anyone who is anticipating bringing a baby home, which includes parents and grandparents.
"Anything raised stays local to help our local patients and in this case, our local tiniest patients and that's very important to me," said Foundation Executive Director Kim Couch. "Staying true to our mission we are eliminating barriers to care, finding ways for people to access us more easily is what we are all about."
The golf event itself had a lot to offer on top of the traditional 18-hole game, starting at the top with a putt-off. The putt-off gave attendees three tries to get a hole-in-one to put their name in a drawing for four tickets to a Pittsburgh Pirates game. As part of the foundation's fundraising efforts for Women's and Children's Services, Helicopter Ball Drop Tickets were sold in advance of the tournament to provide a chance to win $1,500, a diamond ring from Wingrove Jewelers, and a full family membership to the Camden Clark Health and Wellness Center. Mark Mondo of Mondo Building and Excavating donated the use of his helicopter for the event.
Upcoming events from the foundation include a "Pink by the Poolside" on Sept. 6, which is a free screening mammogram fundraiser, and on Feb. 8, 2025, they will host the "Heart Ball" which aims to raise funds for cardiology projects.
