PARKERSBURG -- Reading Camp, a free program for elementary school students who are reluctant or struggling readers, will be held from 8:30 a.m-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Good Shepherd Church, 903 Charles St.

In the morning, children will rotate through learning centers in small groups as they refresh or enhance their reading skills in a fun, non-school environment. Afternoons are spent enjoying activities based on this year’s theme, Wild and Wonderful, which includes field trips, crafts, games and cooking.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included.

The goal of Reading Camp is to help students increase both their reading skills and their self-confidence before school resumes in August.

Reading Camp is for children entering grades 2-5 or repeating grade 1. To register a child, call the church at 304-428-1525 to be emailed an application or visit the church before 3 p.m. Thursday to get an application.

Registration is free. Children may also be enrolled on Monday between 8 and 9 a.m., but earlier enrollment is preferred.

Starting at /week.
