VIENNA -- The 2024 Friends of Vienna Freedom Festival kicked off Friday at the Grand Central Mall and will continue Saturday.
"It's my pleasure to welcome you all to the Freedom Festival for this year," Vienna Mayor Randy Rapp said during the opening ceremony held at the Grand Central Mall Friday.
"We are so blessed by the gifts that we've been given and the life that we're allowed to live that I hope you never, ever take it for granted. And you will always remember the people that protect it, the people that make it work, and your families and your friends. Thank you, have a great time this evening."
Two locations will host the festival this year with activities at the Grand Central Mall Friday and Saturday. Spencer's Landing will play host July 5-6.
Activities for Saturday's festivities include a performance from the 249th Army Band of the West Virginia Army National Guard, a Vaudeville Aerial Acrobatic Show, legendary musician Don McLean will perform and fireworks will close out the night.
"Enjoy the next couple of days. And then we'll see you again next weekend for the rodeo and the hot air balloons," Rapp concluded Friday.
