Parkersburg Art Center to open new exhibit Sunday

PARKERSBURG -- A new exhibit by two women artists from West Virginia will begin Sunday at the Parkersburg Art Center where an opening reception will be held from 1-3 p.m.
"On the Walls: Work by Pat Cross and Judy Foxx" will run through June 15 and will celebrate the talent of Pat Cross and Judy Foxx and feature a variety of artistic expressions including realistic paintings and immersive landscapes.
"Most of my realistic paintings begin as memories from my own life, and my heart sings when observers say things like, 'I used to have one of those,'" Foxx said. "Those words are the validation of my existence as an artist."
Cross also expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration.
"As a professional artist, I seek high-quality collaborations with peers and galleries," Cross said. "So, when Judy Foxx invited me to join her in a duo show at the Parkersburg Art Center, I jumped at the chance. I create paintings and drawings that offer my viewers the refreshment I experience when exploring natural waterways, gardens, landscapes, and the human form."
The opening of the exhibit coincides with Cinco de Mayo, the celebration of the independence of Mexico and its defeat of the French in 1862. The reception will feature south-of-the-border treats and refreshments.
While the reception is free for members of the Art Center and children 12 and under, non-members can attend for $10. Regular entry to the Art Center from 10-5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays is free throughout 2024 thanks to the sponsorship of WVU Medicine Camden Clark.
