PARKERSBURG — The 10th annual Smoot Spring Sing will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Smoot Theatre on Fifth Street in Parkersburg.

The free public show is sponsored by the Smoot Theatre Children’s Chorus that is composed of young singers from the area who have received invitations from their music teacher or from a current member of the chorus, said organizer Barbara Full, who also is a director of the ensembles.

Area music teachers were asked by the Children’s Chorus staff to select their school’s best singers and give them the opportunity to sing on the Smoot stage with the children’s vocal ensemble.

The 38 invited guest singers will join members of the Children’s Chorus for a day of fun musical activities, learning vocal techniques and new songs, which they will then perform at 4 p.m. in a free concert open to the public, Full said.

Also participating in the day’s activities and concert will be the Smoot Theatre Boys Ensemble and the Smoot Theatre Girls Ensemble. The vocal ensembles are under the direction of Full, Marsha Parsons, Janet Blessing, Cathy Martin and Felice Jorgeson.

Auditions for next year’s groups will be held at 4 p.m. May 15-16. Information is available by calling the Smoot Theatre at 304-422-PLAY or on its website at smoottheatre.com/youth-choirs.

Starting at $2.99/week.
