PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Art Center is partnering with the Children's Toy and Doll Museum in Marietta for a new exhibit.

The team from the Marietta museum has created a Pop-up exhibit in the Reception Gallery at the PAC and welcomes visitors to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of Barbie and her friends.

The public is invited to attend a reception for the Barbie and Friends Exhibit at the PAC on Friday, April 5 from 5-7 p.m., when representatives from the museum will be on hand to explain some of the displays and answer questions.

Eager visitors need not wait until then as the exhibit opened to the public on March 26 and will remain on display in the Reception Gallery through April 27 during regular hours, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is free admission thanks to the sponsorship of WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.

"We invite you to walk down memory lane with Barbie and to enjoy the holidays with her. We also have examples of unique toys through the decades," said Kim Reese, toy and doll museum representative, reflecting the sentiment of excitement surrounding the exhibit.

The exhibit not only showcases Barbie and her iconic companions but also offers a glimpse into the evolution of toys over the years.

"See what the Children's Toy and Doll Museum has to offer," Reese said.

The collaboration between the museum and the Parkersburg Art Center has been celebrated by Jessie Siefert, managing director at the PAC.

"We are so happy to have made the acquaintance of the crew who volunteers at this unique Marietta museum and love that a collaborative exhibit came out of that meeting."

All dolls and toys featured are part of the extensive collection housed at the Children's Toy and Doll Museum located at 206 Gilman Ave. in Marietta. The museum provides a glimpse into the past of what entertained and educated children in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It will be open from May to October on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children and $10 for immediate family members.

The Parkersburg Art Center is located at 725 Market St. in downtown Parkersburg at the corner of Market and Eighth streets. Find out more about the Art Center on Facebook, Instagram, on their website www.parkersburgartcenter.org or by emailing info@parkersburgartcenter.org.
