Wirt County student hits the mark at Ravenswood Archery Tournament

RAVENSWOOD — A Wirt County High School student placed first at the Feb. 10 Ravenswood Archery Tournament hosted by Ravenswood High School at the National Guard Armory.
Clayton Mills, a junior on the Wirt County High School archery team, placed first out of 446 competitors, scoring 292 out of 300 possible points, including 22 bullseyes. Mills has been shooting with the Wirt County team since the eighth grade.
Wirt County High School placed sixth overall while the Wirt County Middle School team came in seventh in a field of 21. Archers are scored individually, by team and by male and female divisions for elementary, middle and high schools.
Archers shoot 15 arrows at a distance of 10 meters and 15 arrows at 15 meters for a total of 30 arrows and 300 points.
