West Virginia Symphony Orchestra ushering in Christmas with ‘Sounds of the Season’

PARKERSBURG -- The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will continue its ZMM Architects and Engineers Pops Series this weekend with three performances of "Sounds of the Season" in Lewisburg, Charleston and Parkersburg.
Led by Music Director Maurice Cohn, the performances will include Santa and Friends and musical selections like "White Christmas" and pieces from "The Nutcracker" and "The Polar Express." Also featured will be arrangements from West Virginia composer Matt Jackfert and a can't-miss rendition of fan-favorite "Sleigh Ride."
In Charleston, the West Virginia Symphony Chorus, Parkersburg Symphony Chorus and singers from the University of Charleston will join the Symphony for the second half of the performance.
"The Sounds of the Season concerts with the West Virginia Symphony are incredibly special events," Cohn said. "Music has a unique ability to bring us together and connect our community during the holidays. We can all remember our favorite holiday songs from childhood, and it is such a joy to be making those memories for another generation of music lovers."
After performances at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg today and the Clay Center in Charleston Saturday, the Symphony will present "Sounds of the Season" at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Blennerhassett Elementary School in Parkersburg. Hosted by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra of Parkersburg, tickets for the concert start at $25 for adults and are available at wvsop.org, at the door, or by calling 888-699-8767 (MYWVSOP). Now in its 85th season, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra presents classical and pops concerts throughout the Mountain State.
