Parkersburg Art Center fundraiser to feature Burge, other musicians

PARKERSBURG -- Local musician Todd Burge will be joined by a Grammy winner and other well-known musicians in a fundraiser with part of the proceeds benefiting the Parkersburg Art Center.

Todd Burge's Birthday Bash 2023 will be 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the art center at Eighth and Market streets in downtown Parkersburg.

Burge will be joined by Grammy winner Tim O'Brien and Jan Fabricius,with special guest Larry Groce and a cameo by The Moon King.

O'Brien and his wife Fabricius have performed together nationally and internationally either as a duo or as part of the Tim O'Brien Band since 2015. In a duet setting with a guitar, a mandolin, and their two voices, they bring an intimate and warm acoustic music roots repertoire that's at once both original and traditional. O'Brien is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Wheeling in 1954.

His songs have been covered by Kathy Mattea, Garth Brooks, and the Dixie Chicks, and his collaborators onstage and in the recording studio include Darrell Scott, Dirk Powell, Mark Knopfler, and Sturgill Simpson. He received Grammy awards in both the Folk and Bluegrass categories and is a member of both the West Virginia and the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.

Groce is a singer, songwriter, arts event producer and one of the founders of West Virginia Public Broadcasting's Mountain Stage, distributed nationally by NPR to over 260 stations. Groce is a Grammy nominated songwriter who landed a Billboard top ten hit back in the 70s "Junk Food Junkie". He has recorded over 25 albums including Disney albums that have gone platinum. Groce is an inductee of the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.

Burge has established himself as one of West Virginia's most prolific singer/songwriters. His musical journey has traveled a diverse landscape, from his roots in Alternative Rock with 63 Eyes to his explorations in Contemporary Folk. Burge has graced stages at an array of venues, from iconic locations like CBGB's and The Country Music Hall of Fame to the prestigious stages of The Kennedy Center, alongside countless music venues and theaters. Burge has been a repeat guest on various nationally syndicated programs including Mountain Stage Radio (NPR) and Songs at the Center (PBS).
