MARIETTA -- Marietta College this month welcomed 51 high school students and faculty from seven area schools in Ohio and West Virginia for the annual BIG Workshop focused on creative thinking skills.
Participating schools were Marietta High School, Morgan High School, Ravenswood High School, St. Marys High School, Tyler Consolidated High School, Waterford High School and the Washington County Career Center.
The high school segment began at 8:30 a.m. in the Legacy Library with registration and breakfast. Students then participated in three hands-on, back-to-back activities from 9-11:50 a.m. aimed at enhancing creative abilities.
The activities were led by Marietta College faculty and staff as part of the larger BIG Workshop event happening that day. At noon, students joined the general workshop attendees for a luncheon and keynote speech.
"Marietta College is committed to supporting creativity and innovation for students of all ages," Jacqueline Khorassani, senior director of Entrepreneurship and Career Development, said. "We were thrilled to host this group of bright young students and provide an introduction to creative thinking and problem-solving."
The workshop was supported by the Marietta Community Foundation, Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and Morgan Community Foundation.
