PARKERSBURG -- A 10th anniversary celebration of the Humane Society of Parkersburg S.P.O.T. Clinic will kick off with the first Humane Society Fall Family Fun Day from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday on the campus at 530 29th St. in Parkersburg.

Games, crafts, a petting zoo, animals and a DJ will be available. Food will be provided by Valley Catering from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is free, however, a donation of $5 per person is suggested to help purchase food and supplies for the Humane Society shelter.

The Humane Society opened the spay and neuter S.P.O.T Clinic, an acronym for Stopping Pet Overpopulation Together, in October 2013. More than 47,000 spay and neuter surgeries have been performed at the clinic since.

The celebration will continue throughout the week with cake and punch being served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at the S.P.O.T. Clinic, 506 29th St. The public is invited to attend and share memories.

The final event of the celebration will offer free vaccinations from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 21. The event is open to the public and will be held at the S.P.O.T. Clinic. Four canine vaccines and three feline vaccines will be offered while supplies last. A limited number of free microchips also will be available.

This event is sponsored by Parkersburg Area Community Foundation in honor of its Diamond Anniversary Celebration with funding from the Mary M. Welch Donor Advised Fund.
