PARKERSBURG -- Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday on repaving Parkersburg roads with more than a ton-and-a-half of asphalt.
The $526,221.40 fall paving project is in addition to the $1.8 million in paving the city did earlier this year, City Engineer Adam Stout said. Funding for this round came from a new street infrastructure fund established during the March budget hearings using revenue from the user fee fund and the sale of the Memorial Bridge.
Contractor Asphalt Contractors and Site Work Inc. of Lavalette were in town Monday to start distributing door hangers to residents in the affected areas, with milling set to begin Wednesday, according to a release from Stout.
Streets to be paved are:
* Lincoln Street, south dead end to 44th Street (overlay)
* Powell Street, 40th to 45th streets (overlay)
* Linden Street, 31st Street to West Virginia Avenue (mill and overlay)
* Birch Street, 31st to 33rd streets (overlay)
* 31st Street, Elm to Broad streets (overlay)
* Wells Circle, 13th Street to southeast dead end (overlay)
* 12th Street, Garfield Avenue to the floodwall (overlay)
* Fox Hill Drive, southwest dead end to Core Road (overlay)
* Garfield Avenue, Memorial Bridge to 26th Street (overlay)
* Oakridge Drive, Canterbury Drive to dead end (mill and overlay)
* Lantz Terrace, Oakridge Drive to east dead end (mill and overlay)
* 13th Street, St. Marys Avenue to Wells Circle (mill and overlay)
The summer paving project covered approximately seven miles, while this contract will pave three miles, the release said.
"This will help us reach our goal of approximately 10 miles of roads paved each year," it said.
