Barlow Fair attracts crowds throughout weekend

BARLOW -- Barlow Fairgrounds hosted the 152nd annual Barlow Fair this weekend. The Barlow Fair is the oldest independent fair in the state.
"Everything, all of our vendors are non-profit," said Barlow Fair Director Blake Campbell. "The community comes together."
The Barlow Fair had everything, from fair rides to tractor pulls to livestock shows and other FFA and 4-H involvement.
"We had rain at the beginning and then great weather," said Campbell. "We had great attendance."
The fair started on Wednesday with events for feeder calves, rabbits and market goats.
Thursday, the fair picked up the pace with more events. Thursday was the first day of the fair to have tractor pulling. Thursday also had a beef and dairy show and a teen open mic; Thursday was the first day the fair rides were open to ride.
Friday had a bustle of activity with a market dairy goat show and Junior Fair Poultry. Also on Friday, was the sheep and goat show and more tractor pulls.
The fair parade took place at 6 p.m and included floats from local law enforcement, fair royalty, high school sports teams and marching bands. Pickin' On Country closed out the night at 8 p.m. on the Gazebo stage.
Saturday had a plethora of activities, including tractor pulls, rabbit judging, pie and cake auction and a daft pony pull. Campbell reported that the fair had a record number of attendance for Saturday.
Sunday slowed down a bit, as it was the last day of the fair. Sunday had more tractor pulls, Little Miss and Mr. Barlow pageant, the Open Pleasure Horse Show.
"We appreciate everyone coming and supporting our fair," said Campbell. "We are happy to carry on traditions that have been going on for over 100 years."
