WILLIAMSTOWN — Retired NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow will speak at a special event in November at Wood County Christian School.
A best selling author, philanthropist and inspirational speaker known for his Christian faith, Tebow was the first underclassman to receive the Heisman in 2007 when he was a quarterback for the University of Florida Gators. He went to the NFL where he played for the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and, after a six-year hiatus, with the Jackson Jaguars where he was released in 2021. He also played baseball for the New York Mets.
The Tim Tebow Foundation has helped the most vulnerable people around the world. He is leading a fight against human trafficking with the unKnown initiative.
The board at Wood County Christian worked with Tebow’s representatives for several months, culminating in scheduling him as a speaker at the Nov. 28 Rise Up Event, Jane Smith, executive director of the school, said.
“I give the Lord all the credit for that one,” she said.
The event will be held the evening of Nov. 28 and is a fundraiser for a needed expansion of the campus, Smith said.
“The funds raised will help us expand our campus to meet the valley’s need for quality education with a Christian worldview,” she said.
The event will be held in the school gymnasium where about 500 people can be seated, Smith said.
A decision will be made around the first of November on the number and availability of tickets for sale to the public, she said. Available tickets will depend on how many tables are earmarked for sponsors, Smith said.
A limited number of table sponsorships remain available, she said.
Sponsorships at the highest levels, the Title and Wildcat sponsors, include a VIP reception with Tebow. Other levels include preferred seating and sponsorship recognition. Opportunities will be available to meet Tebow and buy signed memorabilia.

“It will be such an honor to have Tim here and I know this evening will be a blessing to everyone who attends,” Smith said. “This event is a way we continue to pour into and serve the community and we know the expansion will allow us to provide space to grow our programs and student body as well as serve the community well.”
Tebow will speak about his life, tell stories and the importance of a Christian education, among other things, Smith said.
“I’m sure it will be wonderful whatever it is,” she said.
Wood County Christian School opened in 1995 with 175 students in grades K4 through 12th. Its mission is to provide a world-class community-based Christian education.
The school’s growth has included two major building expansions and a growth in student enrollment.
