WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williamstown Police Department Friday issued an advisory concerning the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival for Saturday in Marietta.
The Williamstown boat ramp will close at 5 p.m., the police department said. Up until that time, boats can be launched, but may not park at the ramp, police said.
Vehicles and trailers will not be permitted to park Saturday at the boat ramp. Boaters will not be permitted to remove boats at the boat ramp from 5 p.m. until after the completion of the festival fireworks show, police said.
Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. and the pedestrian walkway on the Williamstown Bridge will be closed to all pedestrians at 8 p.m. on both sides.
Williamstown Police and the Wood County Sheriff's Office will assist getting vehicular and pedestrian traffic moving out of the area as safely and quickly as possible upon completion of fireworks, police said. Police urged caution for all pedestrians and to not drink and drive.
