Benefits planned for Lucas family after fatal crash

PARKERSBURG -- Benefit dinners will be held in October for the Rob and Pam Lucas family and their daughters Kristi and Kassie who were in an accident last week on W.Va. 68.

Kristi, 33, was killed and Kassie was severely injured. A child in the car was uninjured.

A smoked pork and barbecue dinner and auction will be held 2-6 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department, 1340 Harris Highway. For more information, call Phillip Blackwell at 304-483-8815 or Gary Ruble at 304-494-5048.

A benefit spaghetti dinner will be held 3-7 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Word of God Ministries, 127 Dixie Lane, Parkersburg. For more information, call Jeff Ruble at 304-588-4479.

Kassie is being cared for at the medical center in Morgantown. The dinner will raise funds to help the family stay with her and with the funeral expenses for Kristi.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 14 in front of Western Sizzlin' on W.Va. 68. where Kristi's vehicle was struck in a head-on collision. The driver of the other car was charged with DUI causing death and DUI causing serious injury.
