PARKERSBURG -- The 32nd annual Parkersburg Homecoming kicked off Friday night at the Point Park Riverfront Amphitheater.
Homecoming began with The Matt VanFossen Band and opening ceremonies as well as the Kids Fest.
Radio Host Jack Horton of V96.9 began the opening ceremony asking the crowd how they were enjoying the evening, to which the crowd replied with a loud cry of positive answers.
Horton then announced Mayor Tom Joyce to the stage. Joyce introduced the 2023 Parkersburg Homecoming Court and finished his speech wishing well to all attending.
"Have fun, be safe, and God bless us all!"
The Parkersburg Homecoming Court was announced and each introduced themselves. Parkersburg Homecoming Queen Emily Grace Anderson introduced herself and said a few words about Parkersburg's Homecoming.
"Parkersburg has become near and dear to my heart. I've been traveling back and forth here for twirling practice for five years now," Anderson said. "I've gotten to see the true meaning of the Homecoming, and I'm very excited for the parade! Have a wonderful evening and a great day tomorrow!"
Horton then concluded the ceremony by thanking the Homecoming board members, voting and non-voting members, and thanking the Homecoming sponsors. Among those sponsors were: Groggs, Dimex, Willie Classic Country 94.7FM, CAS Cable, WTAP, TLC In Home Care Services, Wendy's, WVUP, and WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.
