PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Board of Education on Tuesday will consider the appointment of LeeAnn Cumpston as the new principal of Williamstown Elementary School.
Cumpston would succeeed Heather Mannix Bretthauer, who was suspended by the board on April 15 and her resignation was approved on May 16. Bretthauer's suspension and resignation was done without any comment or discussion from the board in either meetings.
Keith Palmer, a retired Wood County Schools administrator, has been acting principal at Williamstown Elementary.
The school board meets 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Central Office, 13th and Plum streets. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed online.
Items on the agenda include the recognition of the Williamstown High School Girls Track Team as the 2023 Class A State Champions and Golden Horseshoe winners and recognition of multiple schools for their scores on the West Virginia Balanced Scorecard.
The board will receive updates on finances, facilities, i-Ready and the adult LPN program at the Wood County Technical Center.
National Board Certified Teacher Sara Klesel will have a presentation on the M3T Project.
In addition to personnel and contract items, the board also will vote on the appointment of Amber Hardman as director of federal programs.
