Greater Parkersburg CVB to mark W.Va. Day with author

PARKERSBURG — The co-author of a new book about the state will make a special presentation in Parkersburg on West Virginia Day at noon June 20 at the Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau new Visitors Center on Ann Street.

Melody Pittman in March published “100 Things to Do in West Virginia Before You Die.”

“We are very excited to celebrate the release of ‘100 Things to Do in West Virginia Before You Die’ with co-author Melody Pittman as we recognize our great state’s 160th birthday,” Mark Lewis, president and CEO of the bureau, said. “I encourage everyone to join us for her presentation, book signing and light beverages.”

The bureau is located at 113 Ann St.

“Several local attractions and businesses are featured in the book which provides ideas for seeing the best of our wonderful state with itineraries for families, visitors and locals, along with fun facts, and personal recommendations,” Lewis said.

Pittman is a West Virginia native and travel blogger living in Mesquite, Nev. Pittman will provide insights gathered in writing the book followed by a book signing. The co-author is Ann Richards.

Pittman is the owner of Wherever I May Roam Blog. She also is a freelance writer who lived for 42 years in Charleston.

Her presentation is free and open to the public. The bureau will have “100 Things to Do in West Virginia Before You Die” for purchase.

The book is published by Reedy Press.
