Williamstown teacher receives Janet Frazier Award

WILLIAMSTOWN -- A Williamstown teacher was awarded the Janet Frazier Award for Excellence presented by Artsbridge on Wednesday.
Ashley Clark, a Williamstown teacher, was awarded the first Janet Frazier Award. She leads the Williamstown Strings Program, a group of elementary to high school aged students.
The next winner will be presented the award on Tuesday.
This award has two winners, one elementary or middle school Fine Arts teacher and one high school fine arts teacher. Nominees teach arts, music or drama.
Both recipients will receive $1,000 for supplies for their classroom. Nominations can be made by parents, students, administrators or fellow teachers.
The scholarship was created by Parkersburg native Luke Frazier, the maestro of the American Pops Orchestra in Washington, D.C. He created the scholarships to honor his grandmothers, who were a positive influence as he pursued his career in the arts.
