By Staff Reports 1 min read

VIENNA -- An elementary music teacher from Neal Elementary School in Vienna was awarded the 2023 Janet L. Frazier Award for Excellence.

Artsbridge presented the award to Danielle Taylor.

Artsbridge surprised her with the award at the beginning of the spring choir performance on Tuesday when her students expressed their excitement by cheering and clapping as she accepted a check from Executive Director Lyndsay Dennis.

The Frazier Award was created by Parkersburg native Luke Frazier, maestro of the American Pops Orchestra in Washington, D.C., to honor his grandmothers, who influenced him as he pursued his career in the arts.

The award is presented to two winners each year, an elementary or middle school fine arts teacher and a high school fine arts teacher.

Ashley Clark, a music teacher at Williamstown Middle/High School, was announced last week as a Frazier Award recipient.

Nominees teach arts, music or drama. Recipients will receive $1,000 for supplies for their classroom.

Nominations can be made by parents, students, administrators or fellow teachers.
