Comedy ‘Moon Over Buffalo’ opens Friday at Mid-Ohio Valley Players Theatre

MARIETTA -- The Mid-Ohio Valley Players return to the stage on Friday with "Moon Over Buffalo," a comedy by Ken Ludwig.
Set in 1953 in Buffalo, N.Y., George and Charlotte Hay are fading Broadway stars who are now traveling actors. When they learn Hollywood director Frank Capra may watch them perform and put them in his next movie, they will go to great lengths to impress him.
Mistaken identity, the revelation of a secret affair and a performance that goes terribly awry make for the comical farce.
Director Suzanne Walker hopes audiences are ready for a night of nonstop laughter. She was excited to direct this show because it draws from different generations.
"We were able to lure a couple of our mature actors who haven't been seen on the MOVP stage in some time, back with two great roles," Walker said. "Marty Durham and Tara Polan deliver memorable performances as George and Charlotte Hay."
While Polan credits the crew, Durham applauds his fellow cast members with helping to make the show great.
"I have never worked with a harder working cast," Dunham said. "They are so talented and really great team players."
George Faber takes on the role of Richard, a lawyer to the stars. Charlotte throws around the idea of running away with Richard.
Faber believes there is no dull moment in Buffalo.
"The show is fast paced and the script is hilarious," Faber said.
Dyrk Conrad plays Paul, the stage manager for the Hays' theater troupe.
"The show embodies chaos through both mixed signals and missed signals. We are always joking around backstage and are so supportive and uplifting to each other," Conrad said. "Everyone steps up to help each other wherever we can. Our final result is a play that is written to be absolutely chaotic, produced by an experienced group of friends, and something you'll want to watch at least twice."
"Moon Over Buffalo" opens 8 p.m. Friday and will be presented 8 p.m. Saturday, May 12 and May 13 and at 3 p.m. Sunday and May 14 at Players Theater, 229 Putnam St., Marietta. Tickets are available at midohiovalleyplayers.com or at the box office starting 90 minutes before each performance.
