PARKERSBURG — The City Park pool and splash pad will open for the season on May 27, city officials announced.
Also, the city has expanded its partnership with the YMCA to offer water aerobics and aqua Zumba classes at the City Park pool. The partnership uses the expertise of the YMCA instructors, giving residents more opportunities to stay active and healthy while enjoying the public facilities, a release from the city said.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer our residents and visitors access to a fun, affordable and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant aquatic facility for the summer,” Mayor Tom Joyce said. “We are equally excited to partner with the YMCA to offer these aquatics fitness classes to the community.”
The City Park pool and the splash pad have been successful since the splash pad opened in 2018. Attendance has significantly increased compared to years prior to the improvements, the city said.
