PARKERSBURG -- A student from Calhoun County is among the five recipients of scholarships from the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission.
Levi M. Morris of Calhoun County High School will receive a higher education scholarship of $1,000. He was selected by the board of directors from among 42 applicants from across the state for the award sponsored by the commission.
Also selected were Brooke Jacobs of Frankfort High School; Emily M. Lybarger of Lewis County High School; Ian M. Wood of Point Pleasant High School; and Caleb D. Fuller of Bluefield High School.
Applicants were judged on character, leadership, participation, citizenship, scholarship and financial need. Among requirements was a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and a minimum ACT composite score of 16.
The scholarship is one of two programs sponsored by the commission to honor academic achievement by students involved in extracurricular activities.
