Blennerhassett Island, Parkersburg Art Center team up for art events

By Staff Reports 2 min read

PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Art Center is partnering with Blennerhassett Island State Park for a series of outdoor themed painting parties and art workshops.

This will be the fourth summer of "Art on the Island" programming for the Art Center with classes starting in May and continuing through September.

"How fortunate we are to have this unique, island state park within sight of Point Park," said Jessie Siefert, Managing Director at the Art Center. "Bringing art making to this location just makes sense and is a lot of fun. Participants have loved it and our teachers enjoy the opportunity that this partnership has created because we want to spend some time out in nature too! We hope to continue this collaboration long into the future."

"We are so happy to be working with the Parkersburg Art Center for a fourth year," Park Superintendent Craig Pyles. "Being the host site for their classes is a great opportunity for the participants to come to the park and be inspired by the nature that surrounds them while they are learning to create their pieces. We are thrilled to be able to help bring nature and art together."

Pre-registration is required for the Art On the Island classes at https://tinyurl.com/zx97n68j. The price includes the boat trip over to the park, instruction and all materials. Participants just show up at the boat launch site and names will be on a list. After the painting party, participants are free to stay and explore the state park.
