PARKERSBURG -- The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Instructors classes will be offered in May at the American Red Cross' Parkersburg office.
Classes offer two-year certification to those who successfully complete the courses.
The basic course will teach how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies and meets OSHA and workplace requirements. Two classes are offered. One is a blended learning class, the other an in-person class.
The blended learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection.
The instructors class will train candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid CPR and AED courses. Participants must possess a current basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED or higher level certification or equivalent and be at least 16 on the last day of the instructor course.
This is a blended learning course consisting of online content a skills session and classroom segments. Online material must be completed prior to attending the classroom activities.
Classes are held at American Red Cross, 220 Eight St., Parkersburg. The instructors class will be 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. May 22. The basic in-person course will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 24 and the blended learning course will be held 5:30-7:45 p.m. May 30.
